Consumer Research with Food and Other Products

Find details of a not to be missed, once in a lifetime, training opportunity at the University of Pretoria.  The short course will be presented by world-renowned Sensory and Consumer Scientist, Dr Herbert L. Meiselman from the USA.

WE NEED AT LEAST 15 PEOPLE TO ENROLL TO BE ABLE TO PRESENT THIS COURSE.  I would therefore really appreciate it if you could send the information to your members.  Prof Meiselman will also be willing to present a public lecture while  he is in Pretoria.  We are planning to present the course at Future Africa our brand new research facility on the Hillcrest campus. 

Dr Meiselman is an internationally renowned expert in sensory and consumer research, product development, and food service. He retired as Senior Research Scientist at Natick Laboratories where he was the highest-ranking Research Psychologist in the U.S. government. His accomplishments were recognised with a 2005 United States Presidential Award.

He has served in Editorial roles for various journals, Food Quality and Preference, Journal of Food Service, and Appetite.  He serves on the Executive Committee of the Pangborn Symposia. His current research interests include context/environment, emotion, wellness, and psychographics.  Dr Meiselman is the author of over 190 research papers and 5 books. He is the President of the Research Committee of the Institut Paul Bocuse, Lyon, France, and has worked with the Research Committee for the Culinary Institute of America, New York, and the Food Service Program at Orebro University, Sweden. He is currently an Adjunct Visiting Professor at Charles Sturt University, Australia.

Update: 

As mentioned previously, our Department is offering  a short course  CONSUMER RESEARCH WITH FOOD AND OTHER PRODUCTS presented by Prof Meiselman from the 6-8 August. Please find the course outline attached.  The instructions and cost for enrollment are included in the course outline.
 
We are extending an invitation from Prof Elna Buys, the Head of the Department of Consumer and Food Sciences to attend the public lecture that Prof Meiselman will be presenting on the 7th of August at the Future Africa complex at 18:00.  The public lecture will be followed by a special dinner at 19:00 for 19:30 showcasing Indigenous and Local South African Ingredients with certain ingredients harvested from the Future Africa gardens. The dinner will be prepared by our final year Hospitality Management Students and will be served at the Future Africa Complex.
